Limpopo Department of Public Works

The programme is responsible for the provision and management of provincial land and buildings. Through this programme, the Professional Capacitation Development and Mentoring initiative was established, with the objective to bring together construction management and Human Resource Development units to collaborate in the capacitation, development and mentoring of professionals within the department. Furthermore, the infrastructure Strategic Planning Hub (ISPH) is established. All these initiatives assist the Department to deliver infrastructure on behalf of client departments.

The programme renders a specialised function related to the management and facilitation in the provision, maintenance of government land and buildings through the following sub-programmes:

Chief Director: Property and Facilities Management

The sub-programme, Property and Facilities Management is responsible for the effective and efficient management of Provincial portfolio of immovable throughout their value chain, in support of the provincial service delivery objectives.

These functions are performed in line with the broader departmental goals of improving service delivery, complying with corporate governance requirements, promoting black economic empowerment and contributing to the transformation of the property industry. The main purpose of this sub-programme is to ensure that immovable assets owned and/or utilized for delivery of government’s services yield functional, economic and social benefits to the province.

Chief Director: Education Infrastructure

The Sub-Programme is responsible for managing infrastructure and maintenance for education by provision of technical portfolio management services and to implement infrastructure and maintenance programmes/projects for education.

Chief Director: Health Infrastructure

The Sub-Programme is responsible for managing infrastructure and maintenance for health by provision of technical portfolio management services and to implement infrastructure and maintenance programmes/projects for health.

Chief Director: Provincial Department Infrastructure

The Sub-Programme is responsible for managing infrastructure and maintenance for other provincial department, shared offices and offices of LDPWRI, implement infrastructure and maintenance programmes/projects for other provincial departments and implement category level 3 day to day, routine and emergency services for LDPWRI offices, shared offices and legislature.

Chief Director: District Coordination and Departmental Operations

Programme is responsible for coordinating activities of all five (5) districts.

Chief Director: Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP)

The purpose of this programme is to coordinate the Expanded Public Works Programme in the province.

This involves evaluating business plans, monitoring implementation, facilitating training and reporting progress on all EPWP programmes in the province.

Chief Director: Roads Infrastructure

The purpose of this programme is to implement road infrastructure management in the province. This involves evaluating business plans, monitoring implementation, facilitating training and reporting progress on all road infrastructure management programmes in the province including allocations to the Roads Agency Limpopo (RAL).
